Sade Sati, without the fear.

Saturn is the slowest walker in the sky. Once every ~30 years he walks past your Moon’s house and the two houses beside it — that walk takes about 7½ years and is called Sade Sati. It’s homework time, not a monster.
What it literally is
Saturn is the slowest walker in the sky. Sade Sati is just his walk past your Moon’s house and the two houses beside it — about 7½ years for the whole walk. Tap a sign below to see the walk move.
Sade Sati (“seven and a half”) is a transit definition, nothing more mystical: the stretch during which Saturn passes through the sign before your natal Moon, the sign of your Moon, and the sign after it. Saturn spends roughly two and a half years in each sign, so the three legs total about seven and a half years.

The three phases
Three parts: the warm-up (clearing your desk), the middle (the big homework years), and the end (keeping what you built). Saturn sometimes moonwalks backwards, so a part can start twice — that’s why computed dates beat guessing.
- Rising — Saturn in the 12th from the Moon
- Traditionally read as background pressure: expenses, sleep, withdrawal of old supports; the clearing of the decks.
- Peak — Saturn over the Moon sign
- The classical heart of Sade Sati: weight on the mind and body, demands of duty, and the restructuring of whatever is over-extended.
- Setting — Saturn in the 2nd from the Moon
- Pressure on resources and speech in the old texts; commonly read as consolidation — keeping what survived the audit.
this is why “when does it start” has a computed answer, not a remembered one
Saturn also retrogrades, so a phase can begin, pause, and begin again — which is why checking dates against computed positions beats folk memory.
The honest reading
Everyone gets this walk about every 30 years. It’s not a curse — it’s like exam season: heavy, useful, and it ends. Never pay anyone who uses it to scare you.
a phase of every long life, not a personal curse
Everyone experiences Sade Sati on a cycle of roughly 30 years, because that is how long Saturn takes to circle the zodiac — it is a phase of life, not a rare affliction. The tradition itself does not treat it as uniform doom: its texture is read through Saturn’s dignity in your chart, the houses involved, and the dasha running at the same time (see dasha × transit).
Beware of anyone using Sade Sati fear to sell you remedies; that is precisely the overclaiming our methodology forbids in our own readings.
Your Moon sign — the anchor of the whole definition — is computable in seconds from your birth details in the free dasha calculator. A Dasha90 90-day reading then marks whether any Sade Sati leg is active in your window, from computed positions, with the dates cited.
What this does not claim
Sade Sati doesn’t cause illness or bad luck, and nothing here is advice to delay your life. It’s an old lens for a slow sky event — with dates you can check.
Sade Sati does not cause illness, bankruptcy, divorce, or death, and nothing here is advice to postpone decisions or buy remedies. It is a traditional lens on a slow-moving transit — useful for reflection, honest only when its dates are computed rather than feared.
